Erling Haaland could leave Borussia Dortmund soon
Erling Haaland is really a goalscoring machine. The Norwegian striker has already scored 17 goals this season in all competitions, out of which 10 are in Bundesliga, 6 in the Champions League and one goal in the German Supercup, which Dortmund lost 2-3 to German and European champions Bayern. Some say Haaland is already on the edge of leaving Borussia, being on the radar of Premier League teams such as Manchester United and Manchester City, not to mention Real Madrid. Santiago Bernabeu would be the most likely destination for the Norwegian striker, since the Galatics are in need of a lead goalscorer as Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic have so far failed to live up to the expectations. Premier League tho, would also be a likely destination, to add to the irony that Haaland has British citizenship, since he was born in Leeds at the time his father played for Leeds United. Thing is, Haaland didn’t even spend a full year at Dortmund and he blew up so hard that he’s actually on the verge of leaving the club.
At least Lothar Matthaus says he is ready to leave Borussia and move on to the next level. “He is already ready and we are proud to have him in the Bundesliga. Dortmund need to be pleased to have gotten him because he is a striker that fits to a club with such emotions. At the age of 20, he is a machine. He is a flying striker. He brings a positive energy in the team while also scoring goals. He is irreplaceable. Erling Haaland is regarded at Dortmund like Robert Lewandowski is at Bayern: the player up front who is not only responsible for the goals but in charge of dragging the team with him. He is a leader at the age of 20.”, Matthaus said about the Borussia striker. He also added that Haaland’s time in England “will come” at some point.
Almost two years ago, Haaland was bought by Red Bull Salzburg from Molde, in winter 2019. He didn’t initially get a lot of playtime, but after his hattrick in the Austrian Cup match against ESV Parndorf, he earned his position as regular in the team’s starting eleven. From there on, he went on a goal scoring spree, with 28 goals scored in only half a season in all competitions (16 in the league, 8 in the Champions League and 4 in the Austrian Cup) bought attention from a lot of clubs, but Haaland chose to join Dortmund. Seems like it was the right choice, since the striker is only attracting more attention to himself with his style of playing at this moment.
Mino Raiola, Haaland’s agent, has dismissed rumors about his transfer, saying the Norwegian is “happy with Borussia Dortmund”. “Rumors say Real Madrid want him. This is not new to me, but he is very happy with Borussia Dortmund. Erling wants to win the Champions League. When he leaves the club, it will be for his ambition and not money.”, said Raiola.
